Be magnanimous in victory, traditional ruler urges politicians

Oba Michael Obatuga-Adetoye, the Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa Kingdom, in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, has urged politicians not to renege on their electioneering promises to the masses.

The royal father said that the expectations of Nigerians were high and all politicians needed to do their best in giving succour and making life more meaningful for those who voted them in.

He gave spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Okitipupa, while congratulating winners in the just-concluded general elections.

Obatuga-Adetoye said that the people had spoken through the ballots, urging those who lost out to accept defeat in good fate and rally round the winners in working together for a common goal.

He said that four years was just around the corner, warning politicians that their performance would be the scorecard for them to be re-elected into their various offices.

“Nigerians’ expectations are very high, I urge all politicians in their respective positions to get to work to ensure Nigerians enjoy better life and dividends of democracy,” Obatuga-Adetoye said.

He, however, urged Nigerians to be patient and continue to pray for all politicians so that God would help them to fulfil their promises, for everyone to benefit in the new dispensation.
