Police arraign two over alleged unlawful assault

 

The police on Thursday arraigned two persons: Michael Adelabu, 31 and Pelumi Olasunkanmi, 27, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan over alleged unlawful assault occasioning harm.

The duo were charged with conspiracy and assault, to which they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Samuel Owolabi said the defendants committed the offences on Sept. 30, at about 12:30 a.m, at Omi-Adio area of Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendants unlawfully assaulted one Tajudeen Kareem by beating him with their fists and inflicted injuries all over his body.

Owolabi said that the offences contravene Sections 516 and 355 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000, which prescribes a 3-year misdemeanor sentence for unlawful assault occasioning harm.

The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Olanrewaju granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each in the like sum.

She adjourned the case until Nov. 4, for hearing. (NAN)
