The Kano State Censorship Board has commenced the recruitment of new personnel after a 16-year freeze on employment, following the approval of permanent and pensionable appointments by Gov. Abba Kabir-Yusuf.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Abba El-Mustapha, disclosed this on Monday during the presentation of appointment letters to 17 successful beneficiaries at the Board’s headquarters in Kano.

El-Mustapha described the approval as a significant milestone in the history of the Board, noting that it would help strengthen its workforce and improve service delivery.

He explained that the Board had not received approval for fresh recruitment since 2010, adding that the latest exercise covered both the engagement of new staff and the conversion of qualified casual workers into permanent employees.

According to him, the development reflected the commitment of the present administration to the welfare of citizens and the strengthening of government institutions through the Kano First Agenda.

“The approval will go a long way in boosting the capacity of the Board and ensuring effective discharge of its statutory responsibilities,” he said.

The Executive Secretary charged the newly appointed staff to uphold professionalism, discipline and dedication, stressing that public service required commitment and accountability.

He urged them to contribute positively towards achieving the objectives of the Board and maintaining excellence in their duties.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malam Ali Unguwa-Uku expressed appreciation to Gov. Abba Kabir-Yusuf and the Executive Secretary for the opportunity.

Unguwa-Uku assured that the new employees would reciprocate the gesture through loyalty, hard work and commitment to their responsibilities.
