Women in Business and Politics has congratulated Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (SAN), on her election as President-Elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), saying her emergence marks a milestone for women’s leadership.

The group’s Coordinator, Hassie Oyama, said in a statement on Monday in Abuja that the election reflected NBA members’ confidence in Badejo-Okusanya’s vision, competence and commitment to advancing the legal profession.

Oyama said her emergence underscored the growing influence of women in leadership and would inspire more women and young professionals to aspire to excellence.

She said the group looked forward to Badejo-Okusanya’s leadership and the impact it would have on the legal profession and society.

According to Oyama, the President-Elect, in her acceptance speech, thanked members of the association for entrusting her with the responsibility of leading the NBA.

She said Badejo-Okusanya reaffirmed her commitment to building “A Bolder Bar That Works for Everyone” and pledged to lead with integrity, courage, humility, fairness and accountability.

Oyama said the President-Elect also called for unity within the association, noting that the election marked the beginning of a renewed commitment to serving every member of the Bar.

She said Women in Business and Politics shared the vision of unity, inclusion and service expressed by Badejo-Okusanya.

Oyama added that the group believed her election would further strengthen women’s leadership and participation in shaping Nigeria’s institutions.

She expressed confidence that the NBA would continue to uphold professionalism, justice and quality service under Badejo-Okusanya’s leadership.

Oyama wished the President-Elect a successful tenure, praying that God would grant her wisdom, strength and grace as she prepares to lead one of Nigeria’s foremost professional associations.

Badejo-Okusanya, who emerged as NBA President-Elect on Sunday, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002 after obtaining a Law degree from the University of Lagos, where she also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

She began her legal career at Olaniwun Ajayi LP and was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Justice Sector Reform to the then-Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, in 2007.

She became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), the highest honour in the Nigerian legal profession, on Sept. 29, 2025.
