The police on Tuesday, charged three people before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over alleged N15 million fraud.
The defendants are: Nathaniel Olaniyan, 45; Ayowale Olakanmi,48; and Andrew Ojo,40.
They are standing trial on charges bordering on conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence, stealing and malicious damage.
They each, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, alleged that the defendants committed the offences on April 1, at about 9.00 a.m., at Moniya, Ibadan.
Folaranmi alleged that Olaniyan and Olakanmi obtained the sum of N15 million from one Kemsan Acres Global company, under a false pretence of selling 20 acres of land to them.
He also alleged that the defendants conspired to willfully damaged a fence, corner piece and pillars worth N50 million, belonging to the company.
The offences contravene the provisions of Sections 390(9), 419, 455 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho granted Olaniyan and Olakanmi bail in the sum of N10 million each with two sureties each in like sum.
She granted the third defendant, Ojo bail in the sum of five million naira with two sureties in like sum.
The court adjourned the case until Dec.7, for hearing.
