A 34-year-old man, Fatai Odewole, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged N1.5 million fraud.
Odewole, whose residence was not provided, is standing trial before Magistrate Lateef Layemi on a charge of obtaining money by false pretenses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in 2025.
He alleged that the defendant obtained N1.5 million from the complainant, Mr James Agbor, on the pretext of supplying to him condemned trailer tyres.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant failed to supply the goods as represented, but instead absconded until he was eventually arrested.
The offence, Uche said, contravened the provisions of Section 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Layeni adjourned the case until May 13, for mention.
