The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos, has condemned the killings in Plateau State.
Prof. Ayo Omotayo condemned the killings in a statement on Thursday in Jos.
According to the News of Nigeria (NAN), on Sunday night attacked Angwan Rukuba Community of Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
The gunmen killed 27 persons and left others with various degrees of injuries.
Omotayo, who consoled the families of the deceased and the state government over the unfortunate incident, urged residents of Plateau to be calm and law abiding.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims of Angwan Rukuba attack and to the government of Plateau. While we commend the efforts of security agencies in restoring calm to the affected communities, we call on residents of the area to be calm and law abiding. This tragic incident underscores the urgent need to strengthen national unity, promote peaceful coexistence, and deepen dialogue across communities,” he said.
Omotayo pledged that NIPSS would continue to develop policies that would shape the future of the nation and promote peace and tranquility in the society.
