An Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand at the correctional centre, of a 22-year-old man, Bakare Ridwan, for allegedly damaging and stealing electric cables worth N1.8 million.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on the offence.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs T.A. Shotobi, ordered that the defendants be remanded at the correctional centre until March 26, for review of facts and sentencing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Christian Okonofua, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Feb. 20 at about 3:30 a. m. at Owode-Rabaka, Ibeshe area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully damage and stole a 30 meters XLPE electric cable valued N1.8, belonging to Ikeja Electrics.
He said the offences contravene the provisions of sections 287 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
