President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a message of congratulations to former Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Major General Haladu Anthony Hananiya (Rtd), on his 84th birthday, January 2, 2026.
Major General Hananiya enjoyed an illustrious military career, serving in various capacities, including as General Officer Commanding the Second Mechanised Division in Ibadan. During his years of service, he was appointed Defence Adviser to the Nigerian High Commission in London from 1978 to 1981, and subsequently served as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom in 1984—a period marked by the attempted kidnap of exiled politician, Alhaji Umaru Dikko.
He later served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, with concurrent accreditation to Somalia, the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) from 1985 to 1987. He retired from the military in 1986.
Upon retirement, Major General Hananiya was recalled to national service by the military government to serve as Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), a position he held from 1994 to 1999.
“Major General Hananiya was a humble public servant and military officer, ever ready to serve his nation and community,” President Tinubu remarked.
“As national leader of the Gongola People’s Forum, a socio-cultural association of all ethnic nationalities in Adamawa and Taraba states, he continues to play a pivotal role in providing leadership to his people.
“I pray that Almighty God will grant him many more years of life, good health, and continued strength to serve his people and nation,” President Tinubu added.
In the same vein, the president has rejoiced with Alhaji Saleh Ahmadu, Madaki Lokoja and Makama of Kakanda Kingdom, on his birthday on January 1.
He described Alhaji Ahmadu as a distinguished Nigerian whose life reflects a rare combination of enterprise, national service, philanthropy, and commitment to community development, as well as culture and tradition.
Tinubu acknowledged Madaki’s strategic leadership as Chairman of Trade Modernisation Project Limited, a project facilitated by the Nigeria Customs Service, to strengthen trade facilitation, improve revenue efficiency, and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness within the global trading system.
He lauded Madaki Lokoja’s outstanding humanitarian contribution through the Saleh Ahmadu Foundation, which has delivered sustained interventions in education, healthcare, and support for widows, among others.
He also noted the roles of Madaki Lokoja and Makama of Kakanda Kingdom in promoting social cohesion, religious tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
Tinubu prayed that Almighty God grant Alhaji Saleh Ahmadu good health, strength, and wisdom as he continues to serve the nation and humanity.
The President also congratulated his Special Adviser on Policy Coordination and Head of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), Hadiza Bala-Usman, on her 50th birthday, on January 2, 2026.
He described her as a dedicated patriot whose sterling public career reflects service, sacrifice, and commitment to national development.
The President said Bala Usman’s nearly three decades in public service offer enduring lessons in diligence and purpose-driven leadership.
He recalled her early years at the Bureau of Public Enterprises, where, even at a young age, she demonstrated exceptional clarity of vision and a firm grasp of the structural reforms needed to drive economic growth.
The President described her leadership and outstanding achievements at the Abuja Enterprise Agency and the Nigerian Ports Authority as defining milestones, noting that she broke barriers, raised standards, and strengthened accountability in public administration.
He also commended her political contributions, particularly her role in party organisation and institutional development within the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he said helped entrench internal processes, organisational effectiveness, excellence, and democratic values.
“In her current role as Special Adviser and Head of the CRDCU, Hadiza continues to distinguish herself as an astute public administrator through discipline, clear thinking, and a firm focus on results.
“Hadiza’s efforts have helped strengthen the governance framework, evidence-based performance, and enhanced the realisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda. I thank her for her single-minded commitment to our administration and national service.
“I pray for strength, wisdom, good health and grace for her to remain an inspiration to women, young people and emerging leaders across the country as she celebrates this landmark 50th birthday”, President Tinubu said.
Renowned journalist and academic Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi, was also felicitated by the president as he clocks 60.
A professor of communication and the present Registrar of Baze University in Abuja, Professor Adeniyi’s extensive experience spans multiple fields, including media strategy and public relations.
The President highlighted Adeniyi’s immense contributions to academia and the media, acknowledging that the erudite professor has built a career as a journalist, author, essayist, public analyst, and commentator.
He said, “Professor Adeniyi is a public intellectual of note. He has made important interventions in public policy and facilitated numerous capacity-building initiatives,” and wished him many more years of success and impact.
The president also congratulated Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State on his birthday on January 1.
Mr Ododo, one of the youngest governors in Nigeria today, is an accountant-turned politician.
He had served as the auditor-general for local governments in Kogi State before he was elected governor in 2023.
Tinubu commended the governor for his people-centred policies and programmes and encouraged him to deepen the reach of his initiatives.
The President joined the people and the government of Kogi in celebrating the governor and wishing him a happy birthday and a prosperous New Year.
