Teenager sentenced to sweep court premises for stealing N50, 000

A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered a 19-year-old teenager, Nathan Kenneth, to sweep the court premises for one month for stealing his neighbour’s N50,000.

The police charged Kenneth of Ungwan Sunday, Kaduna, with a count charge of theft.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, ordered the convict to report to the court for one month to sweep the premises after he pleaded guilty to the offence without an option of fine.

Earlier, the Prosecution, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the complainant, Blessing Dauda of same address reported the matter at the Sabo Police Station, Kaduna on Sept. 5.

Leo said the convict; a neighbour of the complainant went to her shop under the pretense of charging his phone and stole N50, 000 from her handbag.

He said the convict was caught in the act by one of the sales girl who raised alarm and he was handed over to the police.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
