Zulum leads North-east governors to Tinubu, seeks infrastructure boost

Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno State on Wednesday led a delegation of North-East governors to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to meet with President Bola Tinubu.

The meeting focused on accelerating infrastructure development and resuming oil exploration in frontier wells, including Kolmani and Lake Chad.

Zulum, chairman of the North-East Governors’ Forum, urged the President to prioritise the completion of key road projects linking the six states of the region.

He commended President Tinubu for his administration’s commitment to enhancing security and driving economic revival across the North-east, describing it as timely and reassuring.

“We thank you for fostering peace and stability within the sub-region and continuing your predecessor’s efforts in sustaining the fight against insurgency,” Zulum said.

The governor pledged the region’s support for federal initiatives to train manpower and deploy technology aimed at tackling insecurity and strengthening agriculture.

“We are aligning with Mr President’s initiative of manpower training and technology deployment, reversing insecurity in forests, while promoting agriculture under the renewed hope agenda,” he added.

In his response, Tinubu acknowledged the concerns raised and assured the governors of his administration’s strong commitment to the region’s development.

He emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between federal and state governments as a pathway to accelerating national growth and stability.

The governors in attendance included Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Bala Muhammad of Bauchi, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, and Agbu Keffas of Taraba.
