President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and ace Comedian Alibaba Akpobome on attaining the age of 60.
Sanwo-Olu attained 60 June 25 while Ali Baba was on June 24, 2025.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, the sixth democratically elected Governor of Lagos State, began his political career under President Tinubu’s mentorship.
His extensive public service includes distinguished roles as Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation and as a three-time Commissioner across key ministries: Economic Planning and Budget; Commerce and Industry; and Establishments, Training, and Pensions.
President Tinubu commended the Governor’s steadfast commitment to Lagos State’s growth and development, noting his alignment with the transformative master plan established during the President’s tenure as Governor (1999–2007).
“Your execution of this vision is exemplified by landmark achievements, including completing the Blue and Red Rail lines and the ongoing preparations for the Purple Line, which will serve the vital Lekki corridor. I urge you to sustain this trajectory by prioritising impactful projects for Lagosians, notably the long-awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way to Victoria Garden City (VGC) Road”, President Tinubu says.
The President concluded: “I also wish you continued good health, longevity, and many more years of invaluable service to Lagos State and Nigeria.”
Also, the president celebrated Alibaba Akpobome, a popular stand-up comedian, compere, and actor.
Named Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, Alibaba hails from Agbarha-Otor in Delta State. He began his professional career performing at corporate events and appearing on television and radio shows.
He later became known for his stage performances and rib-cracking jokes at Grand State events.
Tinubu highlighted Alibaba’s immense contributions to the entertainment industry, describing him as a professional comic and trailblazer who transformed the industry.
Widely regarded as the father of stand-up comedy in Nigeria, Alibaba has helped build the industry into a vast ecosystem that contributes to the country’s GDP.
Tinubu enjoins Alibaba to continue inspiring the younger generation of comedians to hone their skills to reach the zenith.
The President wishes him good health and many more years of impact in the entertainment industry.
