Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has said he will meet President Bola Tunibu over the economic hardship being experienced by Nigerians.
He said in Kano on Monday, “I will personally meet President Tinubu to intimate him about the hardship the people of Kano State are encountering due to inflation with a view to providing succour to the people.”
The governor stated this during a meeting with the business community and other stakeholders held at the Government House.
He noted that inflation was on the high increase on food stuff while other daily needs were very alarming, hence the urgent need to put heads together with a view to finding lasting solution to the economic pangs.
“The purpose of this gathering is to fine tune modalities on how to address the menace of high inflation, because people are really suffering and we need to do something about this,” Yusuf said
He said that the state government would do everything possible by providing enabling environment to the business community.
Yusuf however urged the business community to also reciprocate through adequate payment of taxes, so that government would generate revenue to perform optimally.
The governor expressed the desire to ensure that the state attained the position of the most attractive trade state.
This, he said, is clearly evident in the programmes and projects embarked upon by the state government in order to attract more investors from within and outside the country.
“Our administration as part of its dire need to change the outlook of markets and also to enable them to compete favourably with international markets came up with policies and programmes that would enhance socioeconomic activities in all parts of the state.
“The cumulative effects of this project will be economic growth manifested in employment opportunities, job creation, and income diversification thereby reducing poverty,” he further stated.
“We are begging you the business community to please shun hoarding of food stuff in warehouses, bring it out and sell it to the public to curtail the high increase of food stuff, especially at this moment that fasting of Ramadan is quite approaching.
“I will personally meet President Tinubu to intimate him about the hardship the people of Kano state are encountering due to inflation with a view to providing succour to the people.”
