Dr Olayinka Oyegbile, a journalist, writer and teacher has been decorated with an individual recognition award by The Conversation Africa, a general news website written by academics.
Oyegbile, who also teaches journalism courses at Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, won the award for the author with the highest number of articles from Nigeria in 2023. He wrote six articles for The Conversation Africa. He was decorated along with other academics across the continent whose articles have been published on the website.

Speaking at the event, Adejuwon Soyinka, the Reginal Editor of the magazine said, “As some of you may already know The Conversation Africa is a not for profit media platform, that democratizes knowledge by connecting Africa University and Research Center sectors to the product public. Our mission is to mainstream the voices of scientists and researchers in the general news media and to support science engagement and science communication activities of scientists in Africa as a whole.”
He said since the magazine began publication in May 2015, it has published well over 9000 articles from academics, researchers and scientists whose news articles are published to more than one to two million views globally.
According to him, “We’ve had about 64.6 million leads by republication of over 50 million unique leaders on site. Conversational Africa is also a part of a global network of sites and sister sites based in Australia, USA, UK, Canada, Spain, Indonesia, New Zealand, Brazil, and France. So, in all we have a network of about 10 international editions published in about 28 languages and we published in 97 countries around the world.”
