Following the abrupt termination of his reign by the Kano State governor Abdulahi Umar Ganduje, the ousted Emir of Kano, Mohammad Sanusi was said to have not been able to recover from the shock.
A close aid said the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, who was turbaned the traditional ruler of the ancient town, Kano, has been in pensive mood since the dethronement.

Sanusi was dethroned based on what the governor tagged disregard to tradition and constituted authority in the course of his reign as the Emir of Kano.
He was dethroned Monday, March 9, 2020 and banished to Nasarawa while a new Emir, in person of Aminu Ado Bayero was installed immediately as the Emir of Kano.
Sanusi, on dethronement had issued a release, calling for peace and maintenance of law and order by the people of Kano, saying what happened was ordained by God.
However, the rude shock that followed the pronouncement in confinement was said to be a;larming as the once well revered King has now been boxed into Nasarawa and yanked off all the royal benefits he had been enjoying since June 2014 when he was turbaned Emir of Kano.
It was learnt, however that Sanusi, who is not leaving his dethronement to lie low , is already consulting his lawyers to find a way to wriggle out his considered entitlement through legal means
