Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State will resign his appointment as the South-South Zonal Coordinator of the presidential campaign of Atiku Abubakar, his aide said Friday anonymously.
Wike is pissed that Atiku has not been consulting and seeking his input on campaign matters as it relates to the south-south.
“Atiku has been making appointments into his campaign from the south south without consulting him and he expects him to work with these people! Wike will not tolerate this,” the aide said.
There are feelers that there has been no love lost between Wike and Atiku since the presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where Wike unapologetically shunned Atiku and backed the presidential aspiration of Governor Aminu Tambuwal.
The PDP had named Senate President, Bukola Saraki as Director-General of the Campaign Council alongside prominent party leaders into the council, including former Cross Rivers State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke as Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations.
It named former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose (South West), Tambuwal (North West), Ibrahim Dankwambo (North East), Samuel Ortom (North Central), and Dave Umahi (South East) as zonal coordinators.
