Some students of the Meenas Scholars Academy, Bauchi, have fabricated an electric ship and other products as part of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programme.

The pupils displayed the electric ship and other household products during the school’s end-of-session activities, on Monday in Bauchi.

The Head Teacher, Mrs Rashida Bello, said that the ship was fabricated by the student under the integrated skills development programme.

She said that the programme was part of the integrated curriculum designed to equip students with practical skills, alongside academic activities.

Bello said that pupils and students were also exposed to tailoring and knitting during the 2025/2026 academic session.

“The initiative aims to encourage creativity, innovation and self-reliance among the learners,” she said, adding that exposing children to practical skills would enable them to develop their talents at an early age.

Bello assured that the school would continue to provide opportunities for the learners to acquire practical skills to benefit them in the future.

While commending the pupils and teachers for their dedication, Bello urged parents to support their children to develop their talents.

Mr Adamu Baba, a parent, described the fabrication of the electric ship and  other equipment by the pupils as an outstanding achievement.

Baba said the initiative demonstrated the school’s commitment towards equipping the children with practical knowledge and skills.

He said the skills acquired by the pupils would complement their academic pursuits and prepare them for future challenges.

Also, Mrs Sadiq Mohammed, said the children had embarked on a timely journey towards self-reliance.

Mohammed said that early exposure to  skills acquisition would enable the children to become creative and productive members of the society.

He therefore urged the school management to sustain the initiative,  and introduce more skills programmes to build the capacity of the learners.
