A graduate of Mathematical Science from Kaduna State University (KASU), Ali Shitu, says he makes an average of one million naira monthly from repairs and sales of computers and accessories.

Shitu, who runs a computer repair and sales business on Cooperative Road, off Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna, said this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Friday.

Shitu said he learnt the skill at Tech Plus Intro Tech Resource, Kaduna, while  still a student, adding that he used the computer business to sponsor his education.

“I was working and studying until I graduated and after my national youth service I decided to improve on the trade and it has been profitable. I make N50, 000 daily. I have trained 25 youths and they are doing perfectly well,” he said.

Shitu said he started the business in 2015 when he was 22 years.

​​“As a child, I was very good in repairing electronic devices; I used to experiment using batteries to generate light, which inspired me to delve into electronics. I later ventured into video gaming, laptop repair and sale,” he told NAN.

He further told NAN that one of the major challenges facing the business was poor supply of electricity.

However, he said that over time operators have adopted alternative power sources such as solar and gas in order to improve their productivity.

He urged young people to embrace technical skills and handiwork, saying they were some of best things to venture into.
