Serve with diligence, be agents of change, Idris urges corps members

 

Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi State on Monday urged corps members deployed to the state to be agents of change and serve with diligence.

He stated this at swearing-in ceremony of 492 corps members for the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise in Kebbi.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the corps members, comprising 307 males and 185 females, took their oath of allegiance at the temporary orientation camp in Gwadangwaji, near Birnin Kebbi.

The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technical Education, Alhaji Usman Isah-Abubakar, said: “As corps members deployed to the state, I urge you to serve diligently and be agents of positive change in your places of primary assignment.”

He said the NYSC scheme remained a unifying platform that promotes national integration and patriotism among Nigerian youth.

The governor commended the NYSC management for sustaining the scheme and assured the corps members of adequate security and welfare throughout their service year.

He also announced a donation of two cows to the corps members and urged them to take the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme seriously.

“Entrepreneurship is the future, therefore,I encourage you to embrace the SAED programme, acquire skills, and become employers of labour rather than job seekers,” he said.

The State NYSC Coordinator in Kebbi, Mrs Agatha Banki, said 492 corps members, made up of 307 males and 185 females had been registered for the exercise.

She urged them to adhere strictly to camp rules and regulations and participate actively in all camp activities.

The Chief Judge of Kebbi, Justice Umar Abubakar, represented by Justice Muhammad Nura, administered the oath of allegiance signalling the commencement of the orientation exercise.
