Gov. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has expressed sadness over the passage of the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi.
This is contained in a condolence message by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.
He the late ruler as a repository of knowledge, history and culture, noting that he was a selfless leader who dedicated his life to the service and development of his people and the state at large.The governor emphasised that Oba Alabi presided over a peaceful and prosperous reign in Ilawe-Ekiti and contributed significantly to the growth and development of the state.
“The traditional ruler served meritoriously as Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers between 2019 and 2021. He led the council with wisdom, grace and dignity during his tenure,” he said.
The governor also noted that the late traditional ruler contributed immensely to governance through his valuable advice and wealth of experience as a former diplomat, particularly in conflict management and resolution.
“Oba Alabi was a respected national voice on issues affecting the country and was admired for his unique style of articulating his views at public fora,” he said.
Oyebanji prayed God to grant the family, traditional rulers, associates, and the people of Ekiti State and the country as a whole the fortitude to bear the loss.
