An 18-year-old teenager, Ogunsakin Segun, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court, over alleged house breaking and theft.
Segun, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of house breaking, stealing and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Insp Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 8 at about 06:00 a.m at Lekeleke Area in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant broke into the dwelling house of one Theresa Famuyibo.
Apata alleged that the defendant stole four hand bells valued at N135, 000 and one head touch light valued at N5,000 belonging to the complainant.
He also alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 324(1), 302 and 181(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendant, Mrs Blessing Falaye, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case till April 15, for hearing.
