- NNPP extols his leadership qualities
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, influential politician and former governor of Kano State, on his birthday on October 21, 2025.
He rejoiced with his family, friends and political associates as they mark this special day.
The President acknowledged Kwankwaso’s invaluable services to the country in the various leadership positions he has held.
As former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in the aborted Third Republic, governor of Kano State for two terms, Minister of Defence and Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, Kwankwaso has made his mark and contributed greatly to national development.
President Tinubu affirmed that the Senator’s growing influence in the North, particularly in Kano State, highlights his pro-people politics, reminiscent of the politics of the late Mallam Aminu Kano and the late Alhaji Abubakar Rimi.
“Senator Kwankwaso remains a friend and ally with whom I served in the National Assembly in 1992 and later as governors in 1999. We also worked together in founding the All Progressives Congress. Although he later left the APC to establish the New Nigeria Peoples Party, it is noteworthy that he remains within the progressive fold,” President Tinubu remarked.
The President wished him good health and many more years of impactful service to the nation.
Also, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has congratulated its National Leader, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, on the occasion of his 69th birthday, extolling his dedication to public service and national development.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja celebrated the party’s 2023 presidential flag bearer for his unwavering commitment to national unity, development and service to humanity.
Johnson also acknowledged Kwankwaso’s pro-poor leadership philosophy and his enduring impact during his tenure as governor of Kano and his remarkable contributions at the national level, including his service as Minister of Defence.
“As he marks his 69th birthday, we salute our dear leader and the party’s flag bearer in the 2023 presidential election, Kwankwaso, for his unwavering commitment to national unity and development.
“Of course, we cannot overlook his pro-poor leadership orientation and enduring impact, particularly while he was in the saddle as governor of Kano State. His remarkable national service as Defence Minister and other collaborative efforts to advance the cause of renewal in Nigeria via his politics of meaning and substance over the years can also not be overlooked,” Johnson said.
The NNPP spokesman wished the former governor a happy birthday and longevity in good health and continued service to people across board.
According to him, in spite Kwankwaso’s laudable achievements, his best is yet to come, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.
