Two teenagers, Ibrahim Lukman and Olatunji Lawal, were on Tuesday brought before a Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a sewing machine and other items.
Lukman and Lawal, both 19 years old are being charged with conspiracy and stealing.
In their separate pleas, Lukman admitted to having committed the crime while Lawal pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp Samuel Ishola, told the court that Lukman and Lawal committed the offences on Feb. 1 at Okiti Lane, Isale-Eko, Lagos Island.
Ishola said the defendants stole a sewing machine valued N80,000, belonging to the complainant, Amudalat Saliu.
The prosecutor said Lukman and Lawal also stole the sum of N55,000 and customers’ fabrics valued N20,000.
He said the defendants burgled Saliu’s shop at Okiti Lane Isale-Eko and stole the items.
Ishola said Lukman was caught with some fabrics in his possession while attempting to escape.
He said the offences contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate, A.A Paul, adjourned the case until March 11 for fact and sentencing for the first defendant who pleaded guilty.
He also said the bail condition for the second defendant who pleaded not guilty would be considered on the adjourned date.
