Multichoice, owners of Digital Satellite Television (DStv) have concluded plans to broadcast the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cote d’Ivoire 2024 on its sporting channel, SuperSport.
The company had earlier said it would not transmit the competition ‘because the channel has not secured the rights to broadcast the tournament.’
But it appears to have made a U-turn Wednesday afternoon following a post on the DSTV Nigeria X handle.
However, Nigerian Current observed that the hashtag on the post had a typographical error of 2023 rather than 2024.
“Nigeria No gree for anybody! Watch all 52 matches of the #afcon2023 (sic),” the DSTV post reads.
AFCON 2024 kicks off on Saturday with an opener between hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau in Group A.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea are the other members of the group and will square off on January 14.
