Unidentified gunmen have killed Christopher Dega, special assistant on security matters to Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue state.
Dega who was a retired assistant inspector-general of police was killed on Tuesday in Jos, Pleateau State.
The spokesman to the governor, Terver Aksae confirmed the incident.
The police command in Plateau is yet to provide details into the incident.
Before his retirement from the police, Mr. Dega served as commissioner of police in Borno and Edo states.
In March, Ortom had accused the herdsmen of attempting to kill him.
