President Muhammed Buhari has appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.
Yahaya’s appointment was announced Thursday by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, acting Director of Defence Information.
Prior to his appointment, Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army.
Yahaya’s appointment is coming seven days after the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru died last Friday in a military plane crash in Kaduna .
