In a rather twist of event, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba and other labour leaders have been reportedly decalred wanted, according to Kaduna State governor Nasir el Rufai.

The NLC had since Monday declared a total strike and shutdown of the state over the alleged sacking of over 4,000 workers by the state government.

El-Rufai, in a tweet on Tuesday, said the labour union leaders were declared wanted for “economic sabotage and attacks on public infrastructure under Miscellaneous Offences Act.”

He said there will be a “handsome reward” for anyone who knows the whereabouts of the union leaders.

In a Tweet the governor had said “KADUNA UPDATE: Ayuba Wabba & others of @NLCHeadquarters declared wanted for economic sabotage & attacks on public infrastructure under Miscellaneous Offences Act.

“Anyone that knows where he is hiding should send a message to @MOJKaduna. KDSG. There will be a handsome reward!”

The government had claimed high wage bill among other issues as the reason for the disengagement, but this did not not go down well with the labour union.

On Monday, banks, hospitals, train station, airports were shut while the state was plunged into darkness as electricity workers also joined the mass action.
