Akeredolu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured a total of 292,839 while Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 193, 585 votes. Agboola Ajayi of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) came a distant third with 60,051 votes.
Abel Olayinka, Chief Returning Officer of INEC for the governorship election, announced the results on Sunday afternoon.
The senior lawyer will govern the state for another four years having been first elected in 2016.
