Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, has tested positive for coronavirus.
The governor disclosed this on his Facebook page. He said he is already in self-isolation as required by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
He wrote, “Earlier today, I got confirmation of a positive result for Covid-19. I am asymptomatic and not displaying any symptoms.
“I am currently self-isolating and supervised home management will be administered by the wonderful team at our Infectious Disease Hospital. I ask that we all stay safe and be well.”
The Ondo governor has joined the list of senior public officers who have tested positive for the disease. These include Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed, and Seyi Makinde, of Oyo State.
Those who have died due to complications of Covid-19 include, Abba Kyari, the late chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari and recently the former Governor of Oyo State
