COVID-19: Buhari’s Hometown Under Lock

The Governor of Katsina State, Rt. Hon Aminu Masari has locked down Daura, home town of President Muhammadu Buhari while the whole of the Daura Local Government will begin total lockdown as from 7am on Saturday, 11 April, 2020.

Governor Masari announced this on Friday, 10 April, 2020 while speaking with journalists on the update of the Coronavirus pandemic in his state.
The Governor also confirmed that three more persons have tested positive for the virus and they are all contacts of the index case in the state who is now deceased.
The three who tested positive were the wife of the deceased and two of his children.
A total of 23 people who have had contact with the index case are being screened.
He added that: “Already, the patients are being evacuated to an isolation center located at the Federal Medical center, Katsina for treatment.”
Daily Trust had reported that a private medical doctor of Kogi state origin, who is based in Daura, died from coronavirus infection three days ago.
The late doctor was said to have returned to Daura from Kogi and Lagos states to continue his practice in Katsina before his death at the Airforce Reference Hospital in Daura where he took himself for treatment after coming down with the virus symptoms.
