A 100 level student of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH), Barnabas Otu, has died while swimming in a pool.
Otu drowned on Monday while swimming at a popular resort located along Akai Efa in Calabar Municipality where he had gone in company with some others students to celebrate his matriculation.
The detailed circumstance of his death is dividing opinions with some saying he was drunk.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of CRUTECH, Onen Onen, confirmed the story.
He said: “The information is true, but I don’t have so details now because I travelled to the Okuku Campus (in northern Cross River State) for their matriculation and when I am back, I am going to compile a report on that.”
