The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by Justice Walter Onnoghen, suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), seeking stay of execution on his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The court dismissed the suit on Wednesday.

Onnoghen had approached the court, arguing the CCT had no jurisdiction to preside over the case.

The federal government is prosecuting Onnoghen at the CCT for alleged false assets declaration.

This eventually led to his suspension on Friday by President Muhammadu Buhari which Onnoghen is also contesting in court.
