The Nigerian Air Force fighter jets are currently attacking Boko Haram positions in Lake Chad region in what has been described as a “momentous and earth-shattering” offensive.

The attack is believed to be a direct response by the military to the November 18 attack by the insurgents on Metele camp of the Nigerian Army during which no fewer than 70 soldiers were reportedly killed while scores are still missing.

Today’s attack has reportedly achieved maximum impact with uncomfirmed number of casualties on the side of the insurgents.

Exiled Nigerian journalist, Ahmed Salkida, reported the attack on his Twitter handle, @A_Salkida.

The tweet reads: “Developing: The #NigerianAirforce embarks on momentous earth shattering airstrike’s on #ISWAP positions in the #LakeChad. Multiple sources in the crisis zone said, the ongoing bombardments has “disoriented fighters.” No news yet on the number and type of casualties.”
