Six Detained for Murder, As Former Lagos Speaker Gets Bail

An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate Court on Tuesday remanded six persons in prison custody for the murder of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Akindele Akingbolu of the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Lagos State Police Command.

Another suspect arraigned with them, a former Speaker, Lagos House of Assembly, Mr Jokotola Pelumi was however granted bail.

The Police arraigned Pelumi for allegedly receiving into his home, Adekunle Dabiri, who was alleged to have murdered a DSP Akingbolu.

Pelumi pleaded not guilty and  he was released on bail in the sum of one million naira by Chief Magistrate A.O. Adedayo who said he should also produce two responsible sureties in the like sum.

She said one of the sureties should be a member of the State House of Assembly and adjourned the case until November 26 for mention.

The other suspects were  accused to have conspired among themselves to murder DSP Akingboju.

The Chief Magistrate,  ordered the remand of the accused persons at the Ikoyi Prison, pending legal advice from the Office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions.

She adjourned the case until November 26, for mention.
