There are indications that Chelsea have beaten competition from the likes of Juventus and Monaco for the signature of CSKA Moscow and Russia international midfielder Aleksandr Golovin with indications that the player may be set for a medical today.
Golovin has reportedly been the subject of two bids from the Italian Old Ladies, while there was confirmation yesterday that Ligue 1 outfit Monaco made an offer for the Russia star.
However, Calciomercato is citing BBC sources in Russia who have disclosed that CSKA Moscow have accepted a bid from Chelsea for Golovin on a five-year contract.
Golovin has reportedly agreed terms in principle and a medical could take place as soon as today. It is believed that the influence of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and chief executive Marina Granovskaia may have made the difference for the club in the race for the player.
