The Oyo State Government has approved the nomination and appointment of Dr. Saka Balogun as the new Balogun of Ogbomosoland.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.
According to the statement, information from the office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Ademola Ojo, showed that the stool of the Balogun had been vacant following the demise of the former Balogun of Ogbomosoland, Alhaji Shittu Fasina.
According to the Information Commissioner, Dr. Saka Balogun was unanimously nominated by Balogun Taiwo Atere-Gbebi Ruling House and endorsed by the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, who is the consenting authority, to assume the position of his fore-fathers.
A statement by Prince Oyelade said the new Balogun’s confirmation is in line with the Chiefs Law Cap. 28, Laws of Oyo State, 2000 and his appointment takes effect from 28th April, 2025.
