Sanwo-Olu pays tribute to late Ajose

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday paid tribute to the late Dr Sunny Ajose, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), at his funeral service.

Ajose, the 14th Head of Service (HOS) in Lagos State, died on Jan. 16 at the age of 78.

Sanwo-Olu described him as a model of integrity and diligence, highlighting his unwavering commitment to excellence throughout his distinguished public service career.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the funeral service was held at the Blue Roof LTV, Alausa, Ikeja.

The governor said: “Today, we gather to honour an exceptional leader and son of Lagos state, Dr Akinsanya Sunny Ajose. Ajose’s unwavering commitment to excellence was evident throughout his illustrious career as head of service. He was the epitome of integrity and diligence.

“He was a committed head of service, and his tenure was full of resourcefulness. In the civil service reform, he left an indelible mark as the state progressed.

“In his professional achievements, Ajose was a mentor, leader, and a unifying force within our community. His role in the governance advisory council showcased his dedication to good governance and vision for a progressive Lagos State.’’

Sanwo-Olu urged civil servants and public office holders to emulate the late Ajose, drawing inspiration from his life and service.

He expressed hope that Ajose’s legacy would serve as an enduring example for future generations.

Sanwo-Olu said: “On behalf of the Lagos state government and good people of Lagos state, I express our gratitude to Ajose’s family for sharing him with us.

“His legacy will continue to drive and inspire us as we strive for greater exploits.’’

Among those present at the funeral were Mr Babatunde Fashola, former minister of works and housing, Mrs Mojisola Meranda, Speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, and members of the assembly.

Also in attendance were former Lagos state governor, Mrs Adebisi Sosan, Sen. Idayat Adebule, and Mrs Oluremi Hamzat, wife of the Deputy Governor.
