Prices of food stuff and clothes across the country are jumping up daily with the coming of Christmas and New Year festivities.
Most buyers wore long faces, some on their phone relaying the staggering price of their goods to spouses or other persons and some others move from one shop to another with the hope of getting better prices.
From Lagos to Bayelsa and to Ekiti States the population in markets are quite smaller than it used to be around this time in past years.
Depending on the quality, bags of rice sold from N85,000 upwards with measuring rubbers ranging from N8,500 to N11,000; portions of tomatoes were displayed from N500 or N1,000 upwards, the same with ball peppers; the size of onions that hitherto sold for N1,000 per dozen, now cost over N1,500. Bottles of vegetable and palm oil sold for N3,000 and N2,600 respectively.
For live chicken, old layers sold for N8,500, while boilers sold from N16,000 to N25,000.
