Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival holds in December

The Central Planning Committee of the first ever “Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival” has called for support from stakeholders, traditional rulers in the zone as well as sons and daughters of Ogbomoso, to work for the success of the Carnival.

The Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival (OCC) is the brainchild of the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege 111. It aims to enhance the historic city’s economic development through promoting cultural heritage and tourism.

The committee headed by Prince Williams Adeleye, a communication strategist and former Special dviser on Media to President Mohammadu Buhari was inaugurated on April 27, 2024 with the mandate to emplace a cultural event that will attract the world to Ogbomosoland.

Speaking to joujrnalists at the palace of Onija of Jabata, Oba Mustapha Alade Mafolasere, Prince Adeleye noted that the team has been working assiduously to actualize a great event.

According to him,”Since the inauguration in April we have been working day and night towards a successful event and from all indications we are optimistic of maximum cooperation and support. We are already reaching out to the traditional rulers in all the five local government areas. So far, we have been to the palaces of the Oranmiyan of Oko, Alajawa of Ajaawa, Onisapa of Isapa, Onilagbedu of Lagbedu  and  we are here in Jabata to inform the monarch of our intentions and his role in mobilizing his subjects for the event and we are glad he was happy about and ready to work with us.”

The Onijabata of Jabata, Oba Mustapha Alade Mafolasere in his remarks lauded the Soun for his genuine interest in promoting unity and progress in  Ogbomosoland.

The monarch said, “This cultural festival is a welcome development and I can assure you that we are going to cooperate with you in ensuring a successful event.  Jabata town is a historical and ancient town that has produced two Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, (Generalissimo) and we have a lot to showcase, we will be actively involved.”
