There has been palpable anxiety in the city of Kano, as the two traditional rulers, Emir Muhammad Sanusi and Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, seem poised to lead the Friday prayers at the Central Mosque.
But the State’s Police Command had put that to rest, giving Emir Sanusi the right to lead the Juma’at prayers at the Central Mosque.
A statement by the Commissioner of Police for Kano State, CP Usaini Gumel said that Emir Muhammad Sanusi II is scheduled to lead the Friday prayers at the Central Mosque, and not Emir Aminu Ado Bayero.
Gumel said that Emir Aminu Ado Bayero will be attending his Friday prayers at the mosque located within the Nasarawa Palace where he is currently residing.
The police boss in Kano said that adequate security measures would be in place at the Emir of Kano’s palace for the Juma’at payers to be led by Emir Sanusi, with additional support from the state security agencies.
CP Gumel therefore urged the general public to disregard the false reports and misinformation circulating on social media and go about their activities without fear of molestation or intimidation. In the words of Gumel; “The police will continue to provide necessary security to ensure that residents are able to observe their Friday congressional prayers peacefully without threats to their lives and property
