A 48-year old man, Obiefuna Nwagha, was on Thursday arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged illegal sale of hemp.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being charged with felony and unlawful possession of hemp.
The defendant, however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that Nwagha committed the offences at about 5.30p.m on April 16, at Ilufe Waterside, Badagry, Lagos.
Adeosun said that the defendant conspired with others now at large, to illegally buy and sell weeds suspected to be hemp.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 15 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adekomaiya adjourned the case until June 3, for mention.
