A Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, sentenced a 28-year old driver, Shafiu Mohammed to six months imprisonment for attempting to steal a car.
The convict pleaded guilty to attempted theft and also jumping out of a moving police patrol vehicle.
Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos, after listening to Mohammed’s guilty plea, summarily sentenced him to six imprisonment or a fine of N30,000.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Monday Dabit told the court that the case was reported on Jan. 15, at the “A” Division Police station by Christopher Sunday, a security guard.
Dabit said that the convict opened the car bonnet in an attempt to steal it.
He said that the convict was caught and arrested and on the way to the station he jumped out of the moving police vehicle.
He said the convict committed the offence punishable under the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
