Two Nigerians living in India’s capital, Delhi, were apprehended by the Rachakonda Police’s cybercrime unit for allegedly defrauding people by casting fake love spells and changing fate through special prayers.
According to The Hindu Times, two Nigerians, Mr Okwuchukwu 41, and Mr Obiwuru Jonathan 35, were arrested, while another two Mr Michale Ajunda and Mr Daniel are on the run.
The arrested suspects, Okwuchukwu and Obiwuru reportedly came to India for clothing business, but later took to social media advertising packages for casting love spells and changing peoples’ fate through special power.
They, along with two others Ajunda and Daniel, then opened bank accounts and charged huge amounts, guaranteeing clients results with their special powers.
The police began investigating after a complaint from an aggrieved ophthalmologist from Kushaiguda who had lost about ₹12.45 lakh (over N6.9 million) to the Nigerians.
The police were able to trace, arrest them and bring them to Hyderabad on a transit remand from Delhi, The Hindu Times reported.
