A federal high court sitting in Osogbo has nullified the local government election conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC)
In the ruling delivered by Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel, he said the election was held in contravention of sections 29 & 32 of the Electoral Act, 2022.
On October 15, OSIEC conducted the election across the 30 LGAs in Osun and the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the seats in the 30 LGAs unopposed.
Justice Ayo-Emmanuel ordered that the local government chairmen and councillors across the states to vacate all local government secretariats and offices with immediate effect.
The Peoples Democratic Party had approached the court asking it to stop OSIEC from going ahead with the local government election.
Other respondents in the matter include the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), All Progressives Congress(APC) and party’s former chairman, Oba Adeboyega Famoodun, the Owa of Igbajo
