Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji has been sworn in as the new Governor of Ekiti State

The former chief of staff, Oyebanji was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, on Sunday, October 16, 2022

He took over from Governor Kayode Fayemi who was also a former minister of mineral and steel

While taking oath of office,  Oyebanji pledged to preserve, protect and defend as well as preserve the office as governor in the presence of mammoth Ekiti people.

Among those present in the at the ceremony were the  presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu; Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and his Plateau State counterpart, Simon Lalong.

Others include Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) among others.

Oyebanji was declared winner of the Ekiti State governorship election after polling 187,057 votes.

He emerged winner after defaeting his tow closest rivals — Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who polled 82,211 votes, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 67,457 votes.
