Ethiopian government Stops Visa on Arriva For Nigerians
The Ethiopian government has stopped visas on arrival for Nigerians with immediate effect.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday
The government said travelers would need to obtain their visas at its embassy in Abuja before embarking on a trip to the country.
“Please, be informed that effective immediately, no more visas on arrival for Nigerian citizens,” the email reads in part.
This development is coming two weeks after the country’s flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, acquired 49 percent majority stake on the Nigeria Air project
The embassy did not give reason for what prompted the action to cancel the visa on arrival for Nigerians.
It , however, disclosed that the new policy would not affect passengers transiting through Addis Ababa to their final destination
“Passengers having a layover in Addis to travel the next morning to Zanzibar, Seychelles, Lusaka, Lilongwe, Harare, Cape Town, etc., are not affected by the ban and do not need a transit visa for their trips,” it added.
The Ethiopian government also required that passengers passing through its borders must possess yellow vaccination card at any of its borders.
