Full Fixtures, Venue, Time As AFCON Kicks Off In Cameroun

The 33rd Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will start today, January 9 in Cameroun.

The three-week tournaments which will kick off today, will see the host, Cameroon, take on Burkina Faso in the opening fixture at the new 60, 000 seat Olembe Stadium in Yaounde at 4pm West Africa Time

The defending champion, Algeria would  need to battle Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, and Sierra Leone in group E to retain their 2019 crown.

The Nigeria Super Eagles will go head to head with Egypt, Sudan, and Guniess Bissau in Group D for the possibility of progressing to the next round.

Here are the six groups, 24 participating sides, and group fixtures.


  • Group A: Cameroon (hosts), Burkina Faso, Cape Verde Islands, Ethiopia
  • Group B: Guinea, Malawi, Senegal, Zimbabwe
  • Group C: Comoros Islands, Gabon, Ghana, Morocco
  • Group D: Egypt, Guinea Bissau, Nigeria, Sudan
  • Group E: Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone
  • Group F: Gambia, Mali, Mauritania, Tunisia

  • 7pm: Ethiopia v Cape Verde

  • 1pm: Senegal v Zimbabwe
