New COVID-19 Variant Emerges in France, 12 Infected

A new variant of the COVID-19 variant has been discovered in France.

The scientists identified the new strain , B.1.649.2 , at the institute IHU Méditerranée Infection in Marseille.

The new variant have infected  12 people so far.

According to a research paper published by scientists at the Méditerranée Infection University Hospital Institute (IHU) in France, the first case was linked to a person with travel history to Cameroon.

The scientists said the strain carries mutations that can make it more resistant to vaccines and can make it more transmissible.
