Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, says the country’s proposed national carrier , Nigeria Air will take off by April 2022.
The minister said this while briefing state house correspondents after the federal executive council meeting on Wednesday at the presidential villa , Abuja.
He said the national carrier will be run by a company in which the Nigerian government will hold a five percent stake While Nigerian entrepreneurs will hold 46 percent
According to the minister, the remaining 49% will be reserved for yet to be assigned strategic equity partners, including foreign investors.
Sirike, said the carrier when operational will create about 70,000 jobs fr Nigerians.
In 2018, federal government unveiled the carrier in Farnborough International Public Airshow in London
The proposed airline was later suspended.
The minister of information and culture , Lai Mohammed said the project was suspended due to investor apathy.
