Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has 422 new cases of novel coronavirus and five deaths from the disease.
The agency on Monday in its latest update said the new cases were recorded in 11 states.
Lagos topped the list with 190, followed by Rivers with -86 and Ogun, 85
Other states are Oyo(22), FCT(20), Kwara(7), Edo(5), Abia (4), and Bayelsa(3)
With this latest fgiure, the country now has 178, 508 cases while 165, 982 discharged.
The total number of fatalities stands at 2, 192.
On Monday, the federal government announced that it would commence the second vaccination exercise on August 16
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) Executive Director, Dr Faisal Shuaib said this on Monday.
The federal government received over four million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from the United States on August 1
The presidential steering committee(PSC) had earlier announced that the vaccination would take place on August 10 but the federal government posponed it owning to “unforeseen circumstances”.
While speaking on the exercise, Shuaib said the vaccination will now take place on August 16, adding that the postponement was “purely administrative”.
